Yangon – Bago – Thanlyin – Yangon (5 Days/4 Nights)

Day 1

Yangon Arrival

You will arrive to Yangon airport and be welcomed by our journey staff and you will be brought to hotel.
Yangon is the most industrialized and the most bustling city of Myanmar. Amaze yourself with the colonial heritage which is left-over after the invasion of British.
Upon a brief fresh up commence Yangon city tour. Highlight; down town Yangon with its faded colonial atmosphere such as central post office, historic Strand hotel, custom house and high court to observe the colonial heritage in Yangon, then city center where Sule Pagoda located to see the bustling life of Yangon and City Hall. “Chaukhtathgyi Pagoda” it is the fourth largest colossal reclining image in Myanmar and 67m long. In the evening, visit the most magnificent and spectacular religious edifice, Shwedagon Pagoda before the sun set and enjoy the beauty stupa while it changes the shining of gold in different tones according to the radiant of the setting sun.

Stay overnight at the Hotel in Yangon.

Day 2

Yangon – Bago – Yangon

Breakfast at hotel and depart for Bago.

En-route stop at the Shwenyaungpin Nat shrine to appeal for a safe journey, visit the Allied war cemetery with graves of 27,000 Allied soldiers who died in the Myanmar and Assam campaigns of WW II.

Proceed to Bago and visit Shwethalyaung Reclining Buddha Image, a huge reclining Buddha with a sign on the platform in front of the image giving the measurements of each body part. It is reputed to be one of the most lifelike of all reclining Buddha Images, nearby MahaKalyaniSima, a ‘Sacred hall of Ordination’ was originally constructed in 1476 by King Dhammazedi, the famous alchemist king and son of Queen Shinsawpu. It was the first of 397 similar simas he built around the country.

Continue visit Mahazedi Paya, originally constructed in 1560 AD by King Bayinnaung with stairways lead up the outside of the stupa, and from the top there are fine views over the surrounding area.

Continue visit the region highest Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the 144 meter height stupa is one of the most venerated pagodas in Myanmar having 1000-year history and a walk to the Hinthagone Pagoda with a view over Bago from the roofed platform on the hilltop. According to legend, this was the one point rising from the sea when the mythical bird (the Hintha) landed here.

End your day with a visit of Hanthawadi palace excavation site of former Mon palace ground. The square city measured 1.8 km along each side, the palace compound in the center known as “Kambawzathadi” housed king Bayinnaung<1553–1599>.

On the way to Yangon you may stop over at Kyaik Pun Paya, built in 1476 by King Dhammazedi, it consists of four 30meter-high sitting Buddha Images placed back-to-back around a huge, square pillar.

If your time permit visit country famous KhaKhatWaing monastery to observe Buddhist monks and novices daily activities. Return to Yangon.

Overnight in Yangon.

Day 3

Yangon – Thanlyin – Yangon

Breakfast at hotel and depart for Thanlyin across Yangon river.

In 16th century Thanlyin was home to trading port of Portuguese, Dutch, French and British merchants. Later the Portuguese adventure de Brito established his own private kingdom. The ruin wall of Lusitanian baroque styled buildings can still be seen today. During the colonial days the British have imported someone millions of Indian for rice cultivation. Thanlyin still host a great numbers of Indian populations though Myanmar citizen but their customs and way of life are still very much determined by the Hindu religion.

Visit Portuguese settlement sites with old brick buildings and church in down town Thanlyin and continue to Kyaikhkauk Pagoda, visit the unique Pagoda and proceed to Kyauktan Pagoda, attractive local pilgrimage sites. Transfer to mid-Island Pagoda by Sampan, small man rowing boats.

Return to Yangon.

Overnight in Yangon.

Day 4

Yangon

Breakfast at hotel and proceed to visit BogyokeAung San Market (Scott’s Market), where one can buy many items in one place. Bogyoke Market was built in British colonial times and has a colonial shape.

Have fun going around downtown and to enjoy our modernized city life as well as pay a visit to China town.

In the evening , enjoy the breathtaking sunset from Botahtuaung pagoda which are very special pagoda since there’s Buddha’s hair inside these pagodas.

Day 5

Departure

After breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to Yangon International airport for your return international departure flight.

On the way, enroute stop at Kyauktawgyi pagoda, which is one of the biggest marble Buddha Images in Myanmar with a height of 37ft (11m) and a weight of weighs over 600 tons. The classical name of this Image is Lawkachantha Abaya Labamuni, meaning World Peace and Prosperity. This Sitting Buddha Image is curved out from a single marble stone. The giant stone was found in the Sakyin region, Medaya Township in Mandalay Division. The draft sculpture was carried through the Ayeyarwaddy River down to Yangon. Then it was finally touched up. The sculpting and the enshrining got completed in 2008 and located in Insein.

After that, we will transfer you to Yangon International airport for your departure flight and conclude this wonderful travelling experience.
